I’ve just returned from a few days in Northumberland, which coincided with our unseasonal sunny spell. After missing the turning for Derwent Reservoir I found myself driving high through the Pennines.
From the road I spotted this Red Grouse helpfully posed in a very photographic position. After parking the car I stalked him for 10 minutes or so until I was able to get close enough on my belly to take a few shots at the Grouse eye level before the nervous bird ran for cover.
